Simulate the self-consumption of every solar project

pvSpline sets the site’s consumption against its production, step by step through the year, and reports the self-consumption and coverage rates, the energy drawn from the grid, the surplus exported and the bill before and after solar.

Consumption data, wherever it comes from

Every French tariff structure

A flat rate, peak and off-peak hours, seasonal peak and off-peak, EDF Tempo with its blue, white and red days, or an hourly price curve of 8,760 values. On top of the energy price: the subscribed power, TURPE with peak shaving, net metering, and an export cap set month by month and hour by hour.

Batteries, EV charging and virtual storage

Shift the load toward the sun

The production versus consumption graph compares your load with a typical day and with an optimal reshape at the same daily energy, moved toward the sun or the cheaper hours. You set the share the optimizer may move, up to 40%, and can lock the base load, so every kilowatt-hour it moves can be explained.

The figures your client asks for

Self-consumption and coverage, grid import, the surplus sold under the purchase obligation, the savings on the bill and their payback: the run carries them into the financial model and the report, with an energy-flow diagram of production, home, grid, battery and vehicle.

A self-consumption study in five steps

  1. On the Project tab, pick a self-consumption system type: Self-consumption + export or Self-consumption + storage.
  2. On the Consumption tab, load a bill, pick a typical profile or type your monthly totals.
  3. Set the tariff on the Consumption rates card: flat, peak and off-peak, or Tempo.
  4. Add a battery or an electric vehicle if the project has one.
  5. Run the simulation and read self-consumption, coverage and savings in the results.

Questions

Without meter data or a bill, can I still simulate?

Yes. A typical profile fills the twelve months and the daily shape from a single annual figure, and seeds a representative total when you have none.

At what time step does it compute?

The engine works on a fine series of about 5 minutes, rebuilt from your monthly totals and daily shape, and the simulation’s time step can be set from 60 minutes down to 1.

Is the surplus sale counted?

Yes. With French incentives on, the run applies the EDF OA purchase tariff in force on your grid-connection request date, from the grid the CRE publishes.

The fastest way to judge a simulation tool is to run it on a project you already know.
