Solar PV guides, from the first sketch to the files you hand over
Each guide takes one step of a solar project in pvSpline further: what the software does, how to do it in a few steps, and the manual chapter that goes into the detail.
Design the installation
- Solar panel layout
Lay out solar panels on the aerial photo: draw or detect a roof and pvSpline fills it with modules as you drag, with your spacing, orientation, obstacles and strings.
- Solar carports
Design solar carports and car park canopies: single-slope or east-west butterfly decks, laid out from their real dimensions, previewed in 3D and simulated.
- Agrivoltaics
Simulate agrivoltaic arrays, elevated over crops or in vertical bifacial rows: the panels’ yield, beside the ground light, growing-season PAR and shade uniformity.
- Solar water pumping
Design solar water pumping: borehole, river or pressurised network, pump curves from .PMP files, tank and daily water need, simulated hour by hour with the missing water.
- 3D shading analysis
Measure solar shading in 3D: pvSpline rebuilds your site from IGN LiDAR (buildings, terrain and trees) and measures far, near and vegetation shading string by string.
- PVsyst file import
pvSpline reads PVsyst component files directly: import .PAN modules, .OND inverters, .BTR batteries and .PMP pumps with no re-entry, then simulate in your browser.
Electrical design and paperwork
- Single-line diagram
pvSpline draws the single-line diagram of your PV plant from its design, in IEC or IEEE symbols, batteries and microinverters included, and exports it as SVG or PDF.
- Inverter and string sizing
Size the inverter and the strings of a PV array: cold open-circuit voltage, MPPT window and DC/AC ratio checked on every change, and the clipping shown in the yield.
- PV cable sizing
Size solar PV cables to UTE C15-712-1, NEC or IEC 60364: ampacity with derating, voltage drop and conduit fill, and each cable’s real I²R loss carried into the yield.
- Consuel technical file
pvSpline prepares the Consuel technical file from your PV design: the attestation and SC forms that apply, the values pre-filled and what is left to declare, in one PDF.
- Déclaration préalable
pvSpline assembles the déclaration préalable for solar panels (CERFA 16702): plans DP1 to DP8, photos, parcel lookup and heritage check, ready for the town hall.
Simulate and finance
- Performance ratio
The performance ratio of a solar plant per IEC 61724-1: its formula, and the loss cascade behind it, from the light on the modules to the energy at the meter.
- Self-consumption simulation
Simulate solar self-consumption: bill import, typical load profiles, peak/off-peak and Tempo tariffs, batteries and EV charging, across the whole year.
- Financial analysis
pvSpline turns the simulated yield into NPV, IRR, LCOE and payback, year by year, with French incentives, VAT, IFER, loans, corporate tax and P90 risk built in.
- EDF OA purchase tariffs
The CRE grid of the EDF OA purchase obligation in force, surplus and full sale, and every S21 period since 2021.
- CRE solar tenders
Prepare a CRE solar tender bid: reference price and indexation, the complément de rémunération year by year, and the dossier productible with P50, P90 and ECS.
- Carbon footprint
The carbon footprint of a solar project: CO₂ avoided on the country’s grid against CO₂ embodied in modules, inverters and batteries, with the carbon payback time.
Present the project
- Sun-path video
Record a time-lapse of the sun sweeping your solar site in 3D: a fixed view, an orbit or a flight along a path you draw, with the live stats in every frame, up to 4K.
- 3D-printable model
Export your solar site as STL: terrain, buildings, trees and PV modules, in layers for CAD or as one closed solid for a 3D printer, your logo engraved underneath.
The fastest way to judge a simulation tool is to run it on a project you already know.
